Busdriver & Radioinactive With Deadelus - Thousand Words

Описание к видео Busdriver & Radioinactive With Deadelus - Thousand Words

13th track on the 2003 album "The Weather" by Busdriver, Radioinactive and Daedelus.

I have this friend who has never really been into rap music - but there were two things he liked: This album and Ol' Dirty Bastard.

So either my friend just likes weird music or this is a good album to get started on rap music, since its probably the kind of rap music that's quite far away from rap music 😅

There's already a Daedelus-album on this channel and I used my own and others peoples words in the description to paint a picture of what kind of a producer he was (or is... I have not been following his work the last couple of years). This dude takes samples from all over the place and mixes them together to form something truly unique, all while somehow always managing to still make it sound like a Hip Hop instrumental. Sometimes his music is difficult to listen to but most of the songs come around eventually, since Daedalus also has a special talent for placing that one catchy melody in the right place.

Daedelus is accompanied by two rappers, Busdriver and Radioinactive, both known for their unconventional rap styles. And both of them have been described by the word "avantgarde". I am not to keen on pigeonholing musicians like that, but hey: things you don't know about have to have some kind of classification to grasp their concepts, right? So I'll take it.

Especially Busdriver has blessed Hip Hop heads with some really strange but still great music in the last two decades, evolving from being "just" an unconventional rapper in his early days to mostly singing in his later career. By the way: Busdriver places second in that infamous list that compares rappers vocabulary (check it out here: http://pudding.cool/projects/vocabula... ). He is the only one who has managed to come close to Aesop Rock and has used 1000 unique words more than the GZA or Jedi Mind Tricks, who come in 3rd and 4th on that list. Oh yeah, before someone is trying to point out to me that using a lot of words has nothing to do with quality: sure it hasn't, if using a lot of different words is done for the purpose of using a lot of different words. But that's not what the rappers in the upper regions of that list are known for. Most of them are simply lyrical geniuses and that's it. And if you you look at the "bottom" of that list (where DMX was, when it was first published) and see the trash rappers who gather there now you can pretty confidently say that maybe using a lot of words might have something to do with quality after all.

Back to "The Weather". So, there is one crazy producer and two crazy rappers. And the outcome is - unsurprisingly - a crazy album. An album that has a lot of different sounds to offer and never stops being entertaining. An album that's especially hilarious on those songs that sample kids music. And an album that might not be what you are used to, even if you've listened to Hip Hop for quite some time. So pretty much a go-to album for this channel. Enjoy.
