Meanwhile I appreciate the Nepalese Diy scene very much, not least thanks to bands like CHEPANG, STRANGLE or DISCORD, I´ve been checking new releases from there from time to time and also during the current search I found something on the web again, which I liked very much.
NECK DEEP IN FILTH are playing metallic hardcore with partially high percentage of punk, which they demonstrate impressively on their current EP PARANOID SOVEREIGNTY. On this record you can expect 4 songs, which are roaring out of the speakers with great recording quality and are able to leave a small lasting impression with their groovy versatile, cymbal-laden drumming and interesting and catchy melody insertions. While the first two songs show more Hardcore Punk that aggressively goes forward and causes a furore with sharp vocals, the last two tracks are more rooted in Metallic Hardcore and deliver hard mosh parts and strong riffing.
Personally I prefer the second half of the Ep which reminds me to the sound of bands like DISEMBODIED or DAMNATION A.D, without wanting to devalue the first one. NECK DEEP IN FILTH definitely have the potential to become known beyond the Nepalese border and are one of the "most western sounding" hardcore bands I have come across since yet from the Far East. If you like dissonant, very metallic hardcore punk, you will definitely like the PARANOID SOVEREIGNTY EP and might want to throw some chairs around during the last two songs. It remains to be seen in which direction the Nepalese will turn out and if you can expect more of these nasty hardcore parts on a possible longplayer. Don´t sleep on this!
