Can Anticipatory Bail Be Granted To A Proclaimed Offender? Supreme Court Answers

The video covers the news in which the Supreme Court was dealing with a case of anticipatory bail in case of proclaimed offender. The Apex court held that of course in exceptional and rare cases the court can even grant anticipatory bail to a proclaimed offender but that always depends on the gravity of the offences alleged and not serious cases. In this case, the court said since the offences particularly section 64 IPC carries a term of imprisonment for life or rigorous imprisonment of ten years and fine, the HC shouldn't have granted a pre-arrest bail. Thereafter the SC set aside the order of the Chandigarh HC which means a person has to surrender before the court and seek a regular bail.
