2023 Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival | Sleeping Aboard Our Unconventional, Practical Plywood Boat

Did you know the largest Wooden Boat Festival in North America has been taking place in Port Townsend, Washington every September for the last 46 years? No? You didn’t know there was such a thing as a Wooden Boat Festival? And you didn’t know several such spectacles happen every year in the continental U.S. alone? You say you’re not quite sure where Port Townsend is? Well friends, climb aboard. And through the portal to an otherworldly place filled with skiffs, schooners, and sloops. With ketches, cutters, and coastal cruisers.

The festival is organized by and hosted at the Northwest Maritime Center whose mission is to engage and educate people of all generations in traditional and contemporary maritime life, in a spirit of adventure and discovery. Luckily, and to our amazement, we are now two of those people.
