Balasore, Odisha | Biju Janata Dal has called for Balasore bandh in protest against the death of student of Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College by self immolation.

In a deeply disturbing incident from Odisha's Balasore, a female student of FM College attempted self-immolation after allegedly not receiving swift action on her complaint against a faculty member. The college principal, Dilip Ghose, who has now been suspended, confirmed that a committee had been formed to investigate the student’s complaint and submitted its report within 7-8 days. However, the student, demanding immediate action, reportedly left his office and then set herself on fire in a tragic suicide attempt. She is currently hospitalized in critical condition. This shocking event raises urgent questions on student safety, mental health, and institutional accountability in educational institutions across India.
