In the six years that passed between 1980 and 1986, Paramount had pumped out six Friday The 13th movies. In the absence of Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees had been running unopposed for the ‘king of the slashers’ position. Well, he ran unopposed for a little while. While Jason was growing tired and trending downward, Freddy Krueger was new and hot, trending upward, selling tickets and merchandise like hotcakes. Friday The 13th’s home studio, Paramount, saw the writing on the wall. They needed an injection of fresh energy… aaaaand they wouldn’t get it in the way that they wanted, so they called an audible. Today, we look at Parts VII and VIII. Let's get to it!
