Wolf Ridge Trail located in Virginia's George Washington National Forest is part ridden downhill from Lynn Trail in the Shenandoah Mountain 100 bicycle event. It's the 2nd section of trail in the 100 mile event. The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition received permission from the USFS to re-route the bottom half of the trail because it was an unsustainable fall-line alignment. There was no way to keep water from running right down the trail erroding it and dumping the sediment in the streambed below. The work was performed by volunteers of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition and professional contractors Trail Dynamics. The contract was funded by the Recreational Trail Program (RTP). The grant was awared to SVBC by Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation. RTP is a program of the Federal Highway Administration. The money comes from an estimated portion of the gasoline tax that is used in off-highway vehicles.
