This cantata (for solo soprano, chorus and orchestra), set in eight musical numbers, was well known with British/Hebrew choral societies well into the early 20th century. Initially published by Leuckart, Leipzig – orchestral and vocal scores with German and English text appeared in 1872 – while a revised English translation written by Rev. John Troutbeck accompanied a new vocal score published by Novello, London in 1899.
