BARABASHOV Vyacheslav Andriyovych (1901, Starobilsk, now Luhansk region - 1979, Kharkiv) - composer. Member of the composers union of Ukraine (1932). Finished Kharkiv music-drama institute (1927; S. Bogatyrev's composition class), where he worked from 1928 (later Kharkiv Inst. of Arts): lecturer, from 1939 - Assoc. Prof. from 1946 - taught theory of music and composition. Part-author of the hymn for the Ukrainian SSR. During the war he worked in the Radio Committee on Music, design of special gear for Ukrainian partisans. Author of choirs, romances, songs, arrangements of folk. songs.

Works for symphony orchestra: "Festive Overture" (1952, 2nd ed. - 1971), symphony (1955-58), " Bronze Horseman" by one. a poem by O. Pushkin (1957), "Adagio" (1963); suite for strings. orchestra (1965); suite for strings. quartet (1968); for piano: six preludes, suite, "Legend", "Etude", "Orchestra", "Sonata-poem" (1947-61), "March" (1971).
