Day 3 of 6. Leaving Bailey Gap Shelter there was about 2 miles of super rocky terrain that took a lot out of me. I originally thought I'd do 14 miles to set me up to hitchhike into Blacksburg to resupply some food, but after that I decided to quit for the day at War Spur Shelter for only 8.8 miles. Why kill myself, plus more rain forecast.

Day 4 of 6. Left War Spur Shelter and hiked 12.4 to Sarver Hollow Shelter. It was another cloudy day wit rain forecast for late afternoon and more rain overnight. The forecast was right! There were a couple of long Trail sections over hilly pasture land with tall grass that was an enjoyable change of scenery with beautiful mountain views. The cattle was very curious about me walking thru their pasture. The Sarver Hollow Shelter was really nice and had a covered porch with a picnic table. I had a slightly scary experience when I got lost coming back to the shelter after going for water about .3 miles down a steep incline from the shelter. The path was not clear and I took a critter path up the wrong way, requiring me to bushwhack about a half mile across the steep terrain to the shelter using my phone's FarOut app for direction. It was a little scary as it was getting dusk and starting to rain. I didn't expect anyone to be at this remote Shelter, but was pleasantly surprised when Artum showed up. It rained throughout the night making pleasant sleeping .
