Coconut oil was sold mainly in tins of large quantities to wholesalers & distributors in the year 1980.

So what Parachute did was they decided to convert the market from tins to plastic and introduced small plastic bottles appropriate for retail consumption.

Firstly plastic bottles looked more attractive on the shelf and secondly plastics were cheaper than tins which helped parachute to save on cost.

But the retailers refused to stock the bottles as they thought the plastic and oil combination would attract rats and spoil their shops.

Then Parachute improvised and came up with round plastic bottles so that the rats could not grip the bottles. Also these bottles were fully leakproof.

Gradually, the word spread and plastic bottles of Parachute were found on every shelf making Parachute the market leader. till today we see these bottles on most of the shelfs.
