Here are the TOP 4 reasons your top fill waterer might not be dispensing water!


The float stop or the mechanism that allows water to flow from the tank into the basin may be clogged with algae or other debris. To access this valve for cleaning, loosen the washer inside the tank, remove the tank from the water basin and flip the tank over. The black cap underneath the basin can be removed giving you access to this mechanism. I use large cotton swabs to remove any debris and flush it with the hose.
There may be something stuck up underneath the donut shaped float preventing water from dispensing. To access the float, empty the waterer, unscrew the washer that’s inside the tank, remove the tank from the basin, and clean any debris from underneath the float.
The water level in your drinker may be too low. The water has to be above the float stop in order for water to dispense into the basin.
You may have forgotten to remove the plug that allows water to flow through the float stop and into the basin. The little red cap that comes with the water is often placed on the mechanism prior to filling to prevent water from slopping out as you carry it to the chicken run. If you fail to remove the cap water will not dispense.
