Today in the shop I am testing the newly restored mechanical splitting axe. This mechanical axe, The Great Divider, was designed and built in the 70's, and produced through the 80's. This short term of production makes it a bit more rare than its mechanical axe cousin, the Chopper 1, but it works just the same.

I put the Great Divider to the test, splitting some big rounds of wood using it, a 6 pound splitting maul, a 6.5 pound splitting axe, and a 3.5 pound felling axe.

This was the first time that I have used a mechanical axe, and it was impressive to say the least.
