An Asian Koel was found at the Mysuru Airport terminal after it accidentally collided with the glass wall. Birds often mistake reflective glass for open sky or trees, leading to sudden impacts. In this case, the young male Koel was lucky ; after observing his behaviour and checking his condition, it was clear he had only been lightly stunned and did not require rehabilitation. With no visible injuries and healthy movement, he was safely released back into the wild.

Glass collisions can cause anything from temporary shock to serious internal injuries, bleeding, or even instant death. Quick response and proper handling are very important.

Precautions to Reduce Bird-Glass Collisions:
• Use bird-safe stickers on large glass panels
• Reduce reflections by using curtains or shades
• Create visible patterns on transparent glass
• Keep indoor lights dim during early mornings & evenings

What to Do If a Bird Hits Glass:

1. Gently pick it up and place it in a shaded, safe spot.

2. Do NOT pour water into its beak.

3. Let it rest for 10–20 minutes.

4. If unconscious or bleeding → contact a wildlife rescuer immediately.
