How to unlock the boot of your Jaguar XJ6/XJ8 with a drill

You just locked your keys in the trunk, the battery is flat and the buttons can't open the boot? In my case the latch actuator failed so the only way to open the boot was with the key which I accidentally locked inside the trunk. The only solution is to drill a hole in the boot and use a screwdriver to unlatch it which is not that scary as it sounds so let's get drilling!
