Bassmaster banned this bass fishing duck. That’s right, Fudgie the duck was so good at finding bass that he was banned from tournaments. Fudgie was just a friendly house duck until Rose and Herbert Green took him fishing at Lake Lure, North Carolina. They noticed that he swam to a pile of brush and pointed like a bird dog. Herbert dropped a lure there and … wham caught a bass. From then on, they just watched Fudgie. They took him along to a couple of Bassmaster tournaments and Fudgie found fish … so many fish that he was banned. Not everyone goes bass fishing with a duck and he may not be a Bassmaster Elite, but he’s the only bass fishing duck in the world. This story aired on WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News in 1978.
