ಸಿದ್ದರಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಗವಿಗಳಿದ್ದುದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೂರಾರು ಸಾದು ಸಂತರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಯೂರಿದ್ದರೆಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿದೆ. ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಕ ವಿಶೇಶತೆಯಂದರೆ, ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಲವು ಬಗೆಯ ಔಶದೀಯ ಗುಣಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಸಸಿಗಳ ತಳಿಗಳು. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ತ್ರೇತ್ರಾಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾವಣನೊಡನೆ ಹೋರಾಡುವಾಗ ಲಕ್ಶ್ಮಣನು ಮೂರ‍್ಚೆ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಸಾವು ಬದುಕಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನ ಆಣತಿಯಂತೆ ಹನುಮಂತನು ಸಂಜೀವಿನಿ ಸಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ತರಲು ಕೈಲಾಸ ಪರ‍್ವತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಂಜನೇಯನಿಗೆ ಆ ಗಿಡ ಯಾವುದೆಂದು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇಡೀ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನೇ ಹೊತ್ತು ತರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ತರುವ ಮಾರ‍್ಗ ಮದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರ ತುಣುಕುಗಳು ಬೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ತುಣುಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸಿದ್ದರ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲೂ ಬಿದ್ದವು ಎಂಬ ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಔಶದೀಯ ಗುಣಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳು ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಸಂಜೀವಿನಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟವೆಂತಲೂ ಕರೆಯುವರು. ಸಿದ್ದರಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿನ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಶತೆಯೆಂದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಗೆಗಳು ಕಾಣಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಿಂದೆ ಕಾಕಾಸುರನೆಂಬ ಕಾಗೆಯು ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕಾಗೆಗಳು ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿದೆ. ಸಿದ್ದರಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಕೋಟೆ ಇದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಕುರಂಕೋಟೆಯನ್ನು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕುರಂಗರಾಯನೆಂಬ ಪಾಳೆಗಾರನು ನಿರ‍್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದನೆಂಬ ಇತಿಹಾಸವಿದೆ. ಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿಯಂದು ಸಿದ್ದರಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸಿದ್ದೇಶ್ವರನಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಶ ಪೂಜೆಗಳು ಜರುಗುತ್ತವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಗ ಬಕ್ತರು ಅಪಾರ ಸಂಕ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವರು.ಸಿದ್ದರಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತತೆ, ಹಸಿರಿನ ಹೊದಿಕೆ ಎಂತಹವರನ್ನು ಆಕರ‍್ಶಿಸಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಸ್ಸು ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸೌಲಬ್ಯ ಕೂಡ ಇದೆ.

Another peculiarity of Siddarabetta is that crows are not seen here. It is believed that the crow named Kakasura was cursed in the past so that crows do not come here. There is a fort on Siddarabetta. There is a history that it was built by Kurangaraya who ruled Kurankote. On Shivratri, special pujas are offered to Siddeshwar of Siddarabetta and devotees attend in large numbers. The serenity and greenery of Siddarabetta attracts many.
