Season 5 of the NALIS Preservation Webinar Series launched with a look at preservation and conservation on the other side of the globe – China!

The National Library of China (NLC), founded in 1909, is the third largest national library in the world. NLC’s National Center for Preservation and Conservation of Ancient Books focuses on preserving and conserving a vast collection of ancient manuscripts dating back to the 4th to 11th centuries. Ms. Song Jing, Deputy Head of the Document Restoration Section of NLC Ancient Books Library introduced the work carried out at the NLC and showcased a couple of cases of restoration of ancient books collected by the NLC.

Each webinar of the NALIS Preservation Webinar Series is intended to further empower librarians, archivists, heritage keepers and members of the public with information and techniques for caring for their collections.
