In Seemanchal, Bihar’s poorest region, voters in nearly every village have lost their vote without any basis as part of the special intensive revision of voter lists. They are not dead, absent, enrolled in multiple places, nor have they migrated. And yet, the Election Commission’s hastily conducted exercise has cut them out of the democratic process right before the state elections.

In Belka village in Amour constituency, the revision cut out nearly 20% of the electorate. However, many of those deleted here had submitted their forms to their BLOs within the stipulated time. Yet, there names were deleted.
