Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, to inaugurate the complete 82-kilometre Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. During the visit, the Prime Minister will flag off the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat train at Shatabdi Nagar station before taking a metro ride to Meerut South. The project, worth approximately 12,930 crore rupees, marks a significant milestone in India's transit infrastructure, featuring semi-high-speed trains capable of reaching 180 km/hr. The Namo Bharat trains include premium coaches with reclining seats, mobile charging points, and food vending machines, alongside dedicated coaches for women. The integrated transit system connects 16 stations from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, aiming to reduce travel time to 50 minutes. This development is expected to ease road congestion, lower carbon emissions in the NCR, and boost residential infrastructure along the corridor. Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public gathering in Meerut.
