Crooked Stick Golf Course Pond Dredging

Описание к видео Crooked Stick Golf Course Pond Dredging

Crooked Stick Golf Club had a significant muck build-up problem in the pond on its signature Hole 6. Silt and sediment had built up to the point that it was above the water line in places. The shallow depth was causing a severe algae problem. A number of alternatives were tried from chemical treatment to bubblers and aerators with no improvement. After all the alternatives failed, we were contracted dredge the pond and return it to its original shape and size.

Our solution was to use a portable 6-Inch hydraulic mini-dredge to remove the sediment. An average of 2.5 feet of silt, sand and muck was removed. Along with quite a few golf balls! We were even able to remove the material that had accumulated above the water line. In all, over 2,000 cubic yards of material was taken out with virtually no interruption in play. The work was done over the course of a couple of weeks.

We used (2) 100' x 30' geotextile tubes at the disposal site to dewater and consolidate the material. The disposal location was a little used area in the rough between the 6th & 7th holes. The area had a natural slope to it and we were able to dig in to the slope and create an area to permanently bury the geotextile tubes. Once the material was sufficiently dewatered, we covered up the tubes with stockpiled dirt and blended the new surface into the existing slope. The in-place volume of 2,000 cubic yards was reduced to a mere 1,000 cubic yards using the geotextile tubes. That's a whopping 50% reduction in volume.
