In what starts as an ordinary friends’ gathering, George receives a holiday card from his father. Rather than the warmth one might expect from a family greeting, he responds with a heavy sigh, signaling something far more complex beneath the surface. Elaine, confused, reads aloud “Festivus” – a holiday that’s entirely foreign to her.

George’s apparent reluctance to discuss it only piques Jerry’s curiosity. Ignoring George’s frantic attempts to change the subject, Jerry eagerly dives into explaining this bizarre holiday. Festivus was created by George’s father as a protest against the commercialization and religious elements of Christmas. Elaine, now understanding, begins to piece together George’s eccentric personality.

Jerry gleefully digs deeper into George’s childhood trauma, revealing that during Festivus, instead of a Christmas tree, they had a bare aluminum pole. Even worse, the tradition included a "Feats of Strength" challenge, which George always lost, crying his way through it. George, embarrassed and humiliated, escapes in a huff, leaving Jerry and Elaine in stitches.
