Following a hugely successful international festival circuit run, Pascual Sisto's astute and enigmatic meditation on becoming an adult, John and the Hole has now made its way to cinemas and digital platforms in the UK and Ireland. The film marks the Spanish filmmaker and visual artist's directorial debut, selected for the Cannes 2020 and Sundance 2021 festivals, with Variety naming him as one of the ten directors to watch in 2021.

Penned by Nicolás Giacobone (Oscar winner for his script for 2014’s Birdman), and featuring Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Jennifer Ehle (Saint Maud), and Taissa Farmiga ("American Horror Story"), with a breakout performance by Charlie Shotwell, the film tells the alarmingly eye-opening tale of John, a 13 year-old boy who suddenly takes it upon himself to banish his well-to-do family in an underground bunker he finds behind their house. Voluntarily left to his own devices, John's abundant curiosity and newfound freedom soon reveals that coming-of-age is nothing like he had expected.

To celebrate the release of John and the Hole, SCREAM sat down with Michael C Hall to discuss coming face-to-face with a "least expected foe" before he went on to reveal the triggers that instigated a much-anticipated visit from his "Dark Passenger" in "Dexter: New Blood."
