You want your footage to be as stable as possible, especially if you’re recording a vlog entry. If there is any shakiness in your video then that will distract people from what you are saying.
There’s a lot of cool equipment out there for holding your camera steady. Today I want to show you a few of my favourites.
To start off, this is the Photography & Cinema Pistol Grip Handle for DSLR Cameras. I can mount my camera right on top of this handle to record more stable footage. The coolest thing about this Pistol Grip is that I can also screw it in on top of a tripod or monopod and use it to control my camera movements.

I also want to show you this Mini Camera Skate Dolly. You can roll this little guy across a desk or table and get some really nice, stable, dolly shots.

If you like to make videos with your phone then you should get a selfie stick. Using this Cazbe Selfie Stick I can take smartphone videos without that stereotypically shaky cellphone vid look. It’s also great for capturing cool high angle footage. The Cazbe Selfie Stick costs about $40.

These gadgets are all favs of mine, but there’s one piece of gear you really need if you’re a vlogger – a tripod. Most serious YouTubers have tripods, whether they’re heavy duty, full-sized, ones or small, flexible, desktop options. A tripod is almost essential to any vlogging set up.

If you don’t have a tripod then you will always need to build your vlogging set up around where you can put your camera instead of setting your camera up in the best location for your vlog.
