THOUGHTS ON DEATH
The Imitation of Christ
Thomas à Kempis
Very soon, our life here will end. Have you considered what awaits beyond? Today we live... tomorrow, we die, and are quickly forgotten. Oh, how often we overlook the reality of eternity, focusing only on this fleeting present.
In every action, every thought, live as if today is your last day. What if tomorrow never comes? If you had a clear conscience, death would not frighten you. After all, it is better to avoid sin than to fear death.
Yet, what good is a long life if we change so little? Indeed, many count their years but find that life has grown no holier. One day well-lived would be of greater value. Blessed is the one who keeps the moment of death always before his eyes, preparing for it daily.
Death often arrives unexpectedly. When the last moment comes, you will look at your life differently, and regret being so careless and unprepared.
But there is hope. Happy is the one who lives today as they wish to be found at death: focused on heavenly things, disciplined in virtue, filled with love for Christ.
You can do much when you are in good health, but what can you accomplish when you are ill? The time to prepare for eternity is now, while you have the strength and opportunity.
Live now in such a way that at the hour of death, you may be glad rather than fearful. Die to the world today, so you may live eternally with Christ. For in the end, death comes to us all, and life passes quickly, like a shadow.
Direct your heart to God each day, that you may, after death, pass in joy to the Lord.
This narration is now continuous and can be used directly in your video without scene labels.
