Interfaith Service and Forum Remembering The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hosted in partnership with The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation, this annual service and conversation gathers local and national interfaith leaders around a theme in Dr. King’s life and work. The MLK2026 theme is Liberty, Justice, and the Beloved Community.

The service participants include The Rt. Rev. Austin Keith Rios, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California; Dr. Sylvester Johnson,  Professor of Black Studies, Northwestern University; Dr Angela D. Sims, President, Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School; Canon Stephanie Spellers; Zach Markwith, Islamic Networks Group; Dr. Aaron Grizzell, Executive Director, the NorCal MLK Foundation; among others. The music is by Stanford Talisman and Grace Cathedral Canon Director of Music Jared Johnson.

The Forum is designed to create a space to critique, analyze, and thoughtfully question assumptions about King and faith, King and community, and King and society, and to ignite greater dialogue and programs of action that will infuse the positive force of justice. Moderated by Aaron Grizzell, the guest speakers are Dr. Sylvester Johnson, The Rev. Dr. Angela D. Sims, and The Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers. The Forum follows the service at about the one-hour mark.
