Kerala News: BJP Makes History, VV Rajesh Wins Thiruvananthapuram Mayor's Post After 4 Decades

In a breakthrough moment for the BJP in Kerala, the party on Friday secured its first-ever mayoral post in the state after VV Rajesh was elected Mayor of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, ending nearly four decades of Left dominance in the capital city’s civic body.

Rajesh won the mayoral election held at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation office with 51 votes in the 101-member council, crossing the halfway mark with the support of an Independent councillor. The election was conducted for 100 seats, as polling could not be held in one ward in Vizhinjam.
