「東方秃鷹」乃美國國防部1987年第一號秘密軍事行動代號，行動目的為潛回越南，摧毀一批美國於越戰撤軍時未及毁滅的軍火。

因為此乃秘密行動，行動執行者林中校(林正英 飾)只能於聯邦監獄中挑選一批華裔重犯，以居留權及重酬利誘之；行動前對他們亦只稍加訓練，便匆匆組成一支雜牌軍。行動中各成員須強渡關山，向死神挑戰；彼此從互不信任至互相扶持、生死與共，最後有幾人能得以全身而退......

"Eastern Condors" was the top secret mission of Department of Defense in the United States in 1987. The mission was to destroy the munitions left over in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Since it was the top secret mission, Lieutenant Lam (Lam Ching Ying) could only select Chinese felons from the Federal prison lured by the right of residence and big money to execute the mission. As the irregular troop, they just had informal training before they went to Vietnam. During the mission, they had to pass over mountains and challenge their own wills. They started with no trust to become mutually supportive with one another at the end. However, only few of them were able to come back eventually.
