Musk had projected 20-30% growth in Tesla’s Electric Vehicle deliveries, but instead, deliveries fell to roughly 1.64 million—marking a second year of decline while global EV sales jumped 25%.

He also predicted autonomous Robotaxi service would cover half the U.S. population. Instead, Tesla only has about 30 Robotaxis operating in Austin, and most still require humans behind the wheel. Even the much-hyped “epic demo” of the new Tesla Roadster never happened—it's now delayed to April 2026, with production pushed to possibly 2027 or 2028.

Tesla’s long-delayed Semi truck was supposed to begin production in 2025, but that’s now been moved into 2026. And Musk’s claim that “thousands” of Optimus humanoid robots would be working in Tesla factories also fell flat. There’s no sign of large-scale production, and demonstrations still rely heavily on remote control and have shown limited success.

At a time when expectations were high, Tesla ended the year struggling not just to break new ground, but to meet its own timelines.
