Prior to the 2017 UBC Winter Classic, a friendly, celebrity-filled hockey game was played at the Doug Mitchel Thunderbird Sports Centre to raise funds for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Team Blue and Team White – each sporting the home and away jerseys of the Vancouver Canucks – were comprised of former Canucks, actors from ‘Hollywood North’, musicians and past Thunderbirds.
