"We today do not stand here to give you a pep talk rather we're here to tell you about our journey, our challenges and our goals. My family has given me immense support and pushed me to be self-sufficient." these words, these phrases of wisdom were shinned onto our minds by non-other than the highly gifted siblings Muhammad Ali and Khansa Maria.
"I've had that push from my family to get independent...
. most people
don't". once the audience heard this. a moment of 4 revelation bestowed upon them making them realize the importance of the support of one's family. Many do not get this privilege, and those who do take it for granted.
At the end of the day, all of us are entirely reliant on one another.
However, that does not imply that we are any less independent, it means that we promote inclusivity by making room for everyone and helping out each other. The success story of Khansa Maria and Muhammad Ali makes us ponder over the thought that if you have the will to do something and the support of people around you nothing is impossible; the world is your canvas while you hold the paintbrush. It was funny how Khansa's brother complimented so much on her achievements thats she felt the need to add,"itni tareef horhi lg rha ghar jaa kr jootei pre gei". Muhummad Ali is a name that echoes in every corner of Pakistan; he’s truly an inspiration, from students to social workers to the vulnerable communities of Pakistan – his story acts as a beacon of hope for them all. Muhummad Ali is a visually impaired individual who has utilized his experience for the benefit of humanity. He has dedicated his life to speaking about treating people with disabilities with fairness and equality.
Khansa Maria is a visually impaired activist who has dedicated her life to proving that differently-abled individuals deserve to be more than merely ‘special people who are objectified to no extent. Maria started campaigning from a very young age and spoke at various conferences around the world. She also founded her own organization ‘Hope for Tomorrow’ with her brother, Ali, which raises awareness about people with special needs, but more importantly, provides an equal platform for their voices, their concerns, and their lives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
