What are PVF pipe crosses, tee's, and laterals

Описание к видео What are PVF pipe crosses, tee's, and laterals

In this video Professor jim will identifying the different types of fittings that change flow called Tee and Y’s. see our other videos to learn more about 45’s 90 and 180 return bends.
Tees, wyes and crosses have inlets or outlets not in line with the run of the fittings. A tee joins 3 sections of pipe. Two of the sections will be part of the run. The 3rd section will be joined at a right angle or 90 degrees of the run.
The specifications of the tee starts with the run and then goes to the branch. So a tee that has all equal pipe will just be considered a 2” tee or what ever the pipe size is. You only need to give 1 number.
However, if the pipe of the branch is a different size you will give 3 sizes starting with the run and ending with the branch. For example this branch will be 2 inches. So this would read as a 3 by 3 by 2 reducing tee.
If the run has a branch with a larger pipe size then that is called a bull tee. This would be a 2 by 2 by 3.
If the run has 3 reducing sizes start with the larger size and work your way down from the run to the branch.
A street tee will have one end male (mft) and one end female (fpt) which is the thread on the outside male and thread on the inside female.
Tee with a side inlet ( if we have them). Not a cross but a run with two outlets. Size of the inlets are the last in a measurement.
A tee with four openings is called a cross tee, double tee, or a cross. The flow are at a 90 degree of each other and all the openings are the same size and they are called a straight cross. Of the openings are different sizes they are called a reducing cross.
A cross with one or more sizes is called a reducing cross. With the specs always reading out with the largest opening. For example this one is a ….
A Y which is most commonly spelled “W-Y-E” is a tee that has a branch at a 45 degree. All 3 connections can be the same size however commonly they will be used as a reducer.
A cross Y or a double Y it joins the 45 degrees to the main run. Like all the other fittings the run will always be specified first when the specs are pronounced
