Welcome to Blockchain Animations by NFT Explained! In this video, we're going to introduce you to DAI, a stablecoin that's pegged to the US dollar and regulated by its decentralized governance community, MakerDAO.
We'll explain how DAI is able to maintain its value at one dollar through smart contracts and economic incentives. We'll also discuss how DAI is overcollateralized, backed by a mix of fiat-collateralized cryptocurrencies and other cryptocurrencies.
The DAI stablecoin is kept stable through a system of economic incentives, which allows people to buy cheap DAI and get collateral back at a discount if the value falls below $1. If the value goes above $1, people can generate more DAI and gain additional purchasing power.
The smart contract automatically adjusts collateral requirements and interest rates to ensure DAI is a stable store of value. If the value of the collateral drops below the required collateralization ratio, the smart contract will automatically liquidate a portion of the collateral and use it to buy back DAI on the market to maintain the value of DAI.
