US election 2024: Canadian Trump superfan hopes election outcome will influence Canada

Global's Jeff Semple was outside Trump campaign headquarters in Florida on Tuesday, where he spoke with one very excited Canadian Trump fan who drove over 24 hours to be outside the former U.S. President's campaign headquarters.

Simon Frenette says he hopes the good early returns for Trump in the U.S. election could be an indicator for the next Canadian federal election in 2025.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump remained locked in a tight race with U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s U.S. presidential election.

Trump was projected to win North Carolina and Georgia, two of seven key swing states seen as critical to winning the presidency. The Republican was leading in the other five battlegrounds as of 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, according to the Associated Press: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona. Those states were considered too close to call with millions of votes left to count.
