Activists on board Global Sumud Flotilla boats have shared their motivations behind joining the initiative, as the fleet approaches Tunisia.

Argentinian activist Iara Modarelli described how everyone on the boat felt there 'was no other option' despite the dangers.

Kubra Cinar, a Turkish-German activist, highlighted the complicity of governments, saying: 'My government, the German government, is one of the biggest weapons suppliers to Israel. So at this point, when governments fail, we have to sail.'

The flotilla, carrying hundreds of activists, left Barcelona last Sunday and has now reached the Tunisian coast, where it will regroup with other vessels before continuing towards Gaza.
