Albert Einstein once said: “If I had an hour to solve a problem, I would spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and only 5 minutes thinking about the solution.” This short film takes that wisdom and applies it to the greatest mystery of all: understanding the universe itself.

For centuries, science has advanced through bold problem re-definitions. Newton gave us the laws of motion and gravity. Einstein transformed our picture with General Relativity, showing space and time as dynamic. Quantum Field Theory revealed the deep structure of reality. Yet despite these extraordinary achievements, modern cosmology admits that 96% of the universe is hidden in darkness: dark energy and dark matter.

This video introduces the “dark universe problem” in simple, clear language. We explain why dark matter was invoked to account for galaxy rotation curves, and why dark energy was proposed to explain the accelerating expansion of the cosmos. Both remain placeholders — names for phenomena we do not yet understand. We explore where General Relativity deviates from observation, from black hole singularities to cosmic acceleration, and highlight that only 4% of the universe — ordinary matter — is truly explained.

The Universal Problem Statement is not about rushing to a new theory, but about reframing the central question. If the Equivalence Principle, often described as a fundamental law of physics, has never been tested in the deep voids of intergalactic space, then perhaps our assumptions need re-examination. Science advances when we are willing to see ignorance honestly, rather than clinging to false certainty.

Both Dark Energy and Dark Matter unexplained accelerations emerge as a factor of density, hinting strongly at the possibility that our 50 year unsuccessful search for these undetected, invisible, mysterious shadows can come to and end.

Only an inquisitive open mind will recognise that something different and new, could have merit.
