In this video we are looking at what C.S. Lewis was describing about psychology and why it is important in our lives, how it overlaps with the Christian perspective of our development.
Lewis writes:
"...since Christian morality claims to be a technique for putting the human machine right, I think you would like to know how it is related to another technique which seems to make a similar claim— namely, psychoanalysis.
Now you want to distinguish very clearly between two things: between the actual medical theories and technique of the psychoanalysts, and the general philosophical view of the world which Freud and some others have gone on to add to this. The second thing- the philosophy of Freud - is in direct contradiction to the other great psychologist, Jung. And furthermore, when Freud is talking about how to cure neurotics he is speaking as a specialist on his own subject, but when he goes on to talk general philosophy he is speaking as an amateur. It is therefore quite sensible to attend to him with respect in the one case and not in the other-and that is what I do. I am all the readier to do it because I have found that when he is talking off his own subject and on a subject I do know something about (namely, language) he is very ignorant. But psychoanalysis itself, apart from all the philosophical additions that Freud and others have made to it, is not in the least contradictory to Christianity. Its technique overlaps with Christian morality at some points and it would not be a bad thing if every person knew something about it..."

We are EACH here on this earth in this moment for a very high purpose. If you do not fully understand this, THIS is why I am creating all of these "sessions" for us and all of my other videos. You are MEANT to know your purpose and be encouraged to start living in/activating the unique gifts and talents that God (God is LOVE, True Divine Love) has gifted to you.
When I am working with clients in my office, often we meet once or twice a week to do the "inner work." If you really want change, spiritual and psychological, then you must study and practice slowly and incrementally, just like if you are growing something organically in your garden. There are no "quick fixes."
Here I am inviting you to "do the work." Make the time. You are worth this. You were always worth this. (Like therapy, but this is not in replacement of professional therapy if you require that!)
In these "sessions" I often use songs and stories (like the parables) to help us see things from different angles. This is part of acquiring wisdom.
There are patterns that God takes us through when He is "processing" us to "activate us" so that we can actively use our gifts in this world.
Essentially, when Christ gave us the "new commandment" to LOVE as He has Loved us ...embedded in that calling is the hidden truth, that we have the capacity to Love like that! When we yield to the Divine Love, to God, then the Holy Spirit begins to transform us so that we can have Christ alive in us, loving others through us. We become "little Christs" in this world, as C.S. Lewis describes so well in the book Mere Christianity. This is a great mystery and yet one that we are meant to be engaged with.
I am doing my best to enter into this study with you, of how we can know this Love and walk in it more and more.
YES, these are very deep, nuanced and complex things happening. If you are HERE then it is my understanding that you are a kind of leader, so God is just processing us FIRST...because others may have to go through this a much more difficult way. It's not an egotism thing. This process is for all of us.
Much Love! Keep persevering! and welcome here!

Welcome to my YouTube channel! I am so glad you are here!
My name is Dr. Cheryl Meier.
I am a clinical psychologist in my day job,
and more recently a "lyrical psychologist" 🎶
I use music (all the time) to express deep psychological and spiritual content, so that we can enter these higher realms of understanding, and apply the truths to align with our true telos in Christ, which also happens to better our lives here!

"Do not teach your children they have a soul,
teach them they are a soul and have a body."
Your soul is always communicating how to get "home" -- back to True Love.

Our hearts are restless until they rest in God!
