The best Wireless VR Setup for Quest 2 AirLink and Virtual Desktop

Описание к видео The best Wireless VR Setup for Quest 2 AirLink and Virtual Desktop

Need a better alternative than the D-Link Air Bridge?
This is how to get a perfect wireless tether to your Quest 2 headset from your PC. Get a separate WIFI 6 router or extender that has Access Point capabilities.

EDIT FYI: This setup is optimized for use with Quest2. Please note that there is currently a bug with the Wi-Fi drivers on Quest 3 or a very poor antenna placement, which makes it unstable on mid-range routers. However, with this setup, you can still get about 900 Mbps, which should be sufficient for most users. For optimal performance with Quest 3, it is recommended to use a Wifi6 or 6e router with a 5Ghz 160hz signal or a 6Ghz 160hz signal with a speed of 2401.

Here is a video playlist on the Wi-Fi stability bug:

If you have a Quest2 or can’t afford a Wifi6e router can continue reading or watch the video:

Set your new ruter/extender to Operate as an "Access Point" and wire it directly to you router. Make shure you PC is also wired to that network.
Then create a separate 5 GHz network from your Access Point that is dedicated to your quest.
Now if you connect your Quest to that network you should get a clean uninterrupted signal from your PC via AirLink or Virtual Desktop.

Enjoy!

In this video I'm using the "TP-Link RE505X WiFi 6" but any Wifi 6 Ruter with an Access Point function should work.

(The Quest 2's 5Ghz Wi-Fi has a 80hz receiver making 1200 Mbps max speed. So you don’t need the 3000 Mbps model, but the 3000 Mbps is slightly more stable on Quest 3.)
