MH4U Session: The Other Mohran

Lao Shan Lung. When my brother first told me about that fight way back when in the very first monster hunter game for the ps2, my imagination ran wild. I never got to play it online like he did, so all I could do was hype nyself up for the 'one day'. Years later, MH Freedom arrive to the west, and I finally got to fight Lao. It was nothing like I imagined and a total slog to do. 20 minutes of it lumbering through two zones until it reaches the final area, where it will then proceed to attack the fortress. I have fallen asleep while fighting it due to how slow it is. The worst part about the quest that a hunter can do so much damage to Lao in the first two zones that it can be slain before it completely enters the final area, which means no carves. That was a fun lesson to learn.
A few years later, MH Tri hits the market , and I was able to play that online from the word go. One of the perks of being employed and having the means to pay bills. The Jhen Mohran fight was much better done than Lao's, as it actually tries to attack the players via boulder launching and direct attacks to the ship. Well, here in 4 ultimate we get Dah'ren Mohran, which fits the design of a great land whale thing that swims through soft sand and bores into the earth as it dives. Admittedly, the fight will quickly get boring when you farm it to make its armor, which is one of the more impressive sets in the game.
I bring the cats back to help out with artillery fire. I was expecting to repel the Mohran, thinking me on my own wouldn't be able to do enough damage to actually bring it down. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it go belly up. I will be doing so more offscreen farming for a good weapon and armor set to fight the biggest monster to grace console and portable MH: The Dalamdur.
