Through a variety of unique partnerships, the city of Harrisonburg collaborates on different projects to enhance the quality of life and economic development in Harrisonburg and the region. A variety of public-private partnerships have enabled the construction and development of projects that would otherwise likely not have been feasible.

The most recent project was Hotel Madison & Shenandoah Valley Conference Center, in which the city, James Madison University, the James Madison Foundation and private developers, dpM Partners collaborated. Others include parks, mixed use development, and greenway/multi-use paths. These projects enhance the quality of life for residents, while also attracting visitors and businesses that ultimately increase the local and regional economies.

The city of Harrisonburg has so much to offer. There are outdoor recreational opportunities, cultural attractions, and a downtown culinary district. The city sits centrally located in the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic district with views of the Blue Ridge mountains to the east and Allegany mountains to the west.
