(28 Oct 2016) As part of the public tours, as well as in recognition of Halloween, several impersonators were on hand at the White House today portraying several Presidents and First Ladies. Neither the president nor first lady were present for the walk through.
Gib Young of Indiana, playing Teddy Roosevelt, greeted people in the Entrance Hall. Asked if he was following the current presidential election, Roosevelt demurred: "I promised to be on my good behavior today and not make any comments on our current situation."
A very believable Abraham Lincoln, as played by Richard 'Fritz' Klein of Springfield, Ill., posing for portraits under his actual portrait in the State Dining Room.
In the Red Room former first lady Dolley Madison discussed the various ice creams she served while at the White House. Madison was played by Rebecca Roper from Arlington Virginia.
A ghostly version of former first lady Abigail Adams, played by Heather Godwin from Washington D.C., walked around as the 18th Street Singers sang in the East Room.
There were a few scattered Halloween decorations, including a large cobweb over one of the East Room fireplaces. Each room had a sign calling attention to some spooky point.
