How To Restore Cast Iron | Easy Method To Restore Cast Iron | Easy No Knead Dutch Oven Bread

Hey friends, I am so excited to share this amazing transformation with you. Here is an easy method to restore any cast iron cookware you might have laying around that you think might be beyond saving. It is the easiest way I’ve ever seen to cut thru the grime and rust and get it back to a point where you can start over with a new seasoning. So let’s get this cast iron scrubbed down, reseasoned and restored, and bake some bread in it! And never fear I will have some great tips of what to do and not to do that I’ve learned over the last few weeks trying to learn to bake bread. Steps To Restore Rusted Cast Iron
In a well ventilated area, spray the piece with oven cleaner, place in a plastic bag and let it set for 20-30 minutes. Remove from bag and scrub clean with steel wool scrubber or wire brush using water along the way to keep it wet. Rinse and repeat these steps as necessary until it’s clean.
Steps To Reseason Cast Iron
Wash and dry thoroughly in the oven until temp reaches 200 degrees.
Carefully remove and coat in Crisco while waiting for the oven to reach 300 degrees.
Then bake upside down for 15 minutes at 300 degrees. (I put a pan under mine in the oven)
Carefully remove and wipe off as much of the Crisco as you can while heating the oven to 400 degrees. Then bake the pieces at 400 degrees for 1 ½ to 2 hours. You can repeat this process if your cookware is not as dark as you like.

No Knead Dutch Oven Bread
14 oz cool water
1/4 tsp yeast
2 tsp salt
3.5 cups bread flour
Whisk dry ingredients together. Stir in water and until a shaggy dough forms. Cover and let sit 8 to 24 hours. Preheat oven to 450 with Dutch oven inside. Meanwhile, punch down dough (should have doubled in size by now!) Turn out on to lightly floured surface. Fold over to form dough ball. Cover with tea towel for 20 minutes. When oven is preheated, place dough inside on parchment paper. Slit top in cross form with sharp knife. Bake 30 minutes. Uncover and remove lid. Bake additional 5-10 minutes until top is deep golden brown!
