LU: Slow/Fast Trains on the District/Piccadilly Lines - Part 1

Описание к видео LU: Slow/Fast Trains on the District/Piccadilly Lines - Part 1

Prelude:    • London Underground: Old D78 Stock at ...
Part II:    • LU: Slow/Fast Trains on the District/...

This is the first part (after the prelude) of my film on the District and Piccadilly lines.

Similarly to the previously published small series on the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines, the District and Piccadilly lines share their route between South Kensington and Acton Town. The District line provides slow (local) service, while the Piccadilly line runs fast (express).

The route is particularly interesting, as the District line is part of the subsurface network, using larger trains than the Piccadilly line, which belongs to the deep tube network. Also, both lines still use quite old rolling stock. The Piccadilly line is operated with 1973 tube stock, and many of the District line trains are still formed of D78 stock; which, however, is gradually being replaced with shiny new S7 stock.

In this film we are first looking at Barons Court and Hammersmith stations, both of which are served by both lines. In the second half we then focus on Ravenscourt Park and Stamford Brook, which are skipped by the Piccadilly line.

Enjoy!

Filmed on 19 October 2015.
