On September 11, 2024, an employee of Whataburger called the Bentonville Police after a woman came up to the drive thru window thinking she had already placed an order. The employee indicated that he could smell alcohol on the woman's breath. The woman was still in the parking lot deciding on what to order when Officer Alred arrived and interviewed the 41-year-old woman. She admitted to consuming multiple alcohol drinks and, as a result, was asked to step out of her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. This included a portable breath test, where the result was 0.148% BAC. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Bentonville police station. She agreed to submit to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.184% BAC. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was eventually taken to the Benton County Jail for an 8-hour hold to sober up.
