Jose Cid - 10000 Anos Depois Entre Venus E Marte 1978 (Portugal, Symphonic Prog)

In 1977, José Cid, then a radio and television star with a distinguished past in the history of Portuguese pop through his career with Quarteto 1111, appeared at his label with an idea. He wanted to record an album at the opposite of his songs, which were then climbing the peaks and making their way into the collective memory. A concept album inspired by the progressive rock of Pink Floyd, King Crimson or Genesis, a story of post-apocalyptic redemption told with the sound of Mellotron, one of the synthesizers that made music sound at the time.

10,000 Years Later Between Vénus and Marte, the album was called, recorded with Zé Nabo, in the double role of bassist and guitarist, with guitarist Mike Sergeant or drummer Ramon Galarza, and released in 1978. At the time, it sold less than a thousand copies. Step by step, however, it gained a place of worship in progressive melomania (nationally and beyond). Step by step, it became a kind of myth in Cid's career – the album that generates the most curiosity, the album that would be reissued in 1994 by the specialized label Art Sublime, growing in recognition until appearing on lists of the best ever in the international press .
