Volvo CE powers construction at the Kühtai storage plant in Austria!

At an altitude of over 2,100 meters, an impressive pumped storage power plant is being built in Kühtai as an extension to the Sellrain-Silz power plant group. Not only is it one of Europe’s largest construction sites, but it is also key to developing an independent, secure, and environmentally friendly energy supply.

Currently, more as 60 powerful Volvo construction machines are hard at work on-site, shifting massive volumes of earth and rock in both open terrain and challenging underground areas.

Leading the fleet is the flagship Volvo EC950F, a 90-tonne crawler excavator and the first of its kind in Austria, with another to follow soon. This heavy-duty machine meets the project’s high demands and reflects a trusted partnership with Volvo CE dealer Ascendum.

Underground operations are supported by Volvo articulated haulers, with smaller A25 and A30 models excelling in confined tunnel work and larger A40 and A60 models tackling off-road earthworks with ease.
