Jeep CJ5 Rebuild Pt.6 | Refresh Your Rusty Leaf Springs & New Bushings

Описание к видео Jeep CJ5 Rebuild Pt.6 | Refresh Your Rusty Leaf Springs & New Bushings

Are your leaf springs rusted and ugly? Today we are giving our CJ5 leaf springs a quick facelift with a fresh coat of paint and some new bushings. The old poly bushings were worn and dry rotted, so we chose to replace them with factory style rubber bushings. The rubber will ride better than the poly did, even though it may not handle quite as well off road. I opted not to separate the spring pack in order to sand between the springs and repaint. I know some folks feel one way or the other about this. Some people say not to separate the springs to repaint, because when the new paint chips away and deteriorates it can leave a void between the springs. Most of the time when a leaf spring fails, it is from them not being tight enough. Using this logic I opted to wire wheel as much as I could and let the rest ride. If you prefer to separate the springs, leave a comment below and let me know how that has worked out. Cheers!
