Mitchell Starc has officially announced his retirement from T20 internationals. The Australian pace spearhead has decided to step away from the shortest format in order to manage his workload, prioritize the upcoming heavy Test schedule, and gear up for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Starc, 35, finishes with 65 T20I appearances since his debut in 2012 and was a key part of Australia’s 2021 T20 World Cup win in the UAE. His last outing in the format came at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. With this decision, Starc is focusing on prolonging his red-ball career and aiming to lead Australia’s bowling attack in the 2027 World Cup.
