Whereas governments have a key role to play in promoting intra-African trade by providing the necessary policy frameworks and creating a conducive environment to conduct trade; the greatest beneficiaries of the #AfCFTA will be businesses from large corporate to micro , small and medium scale enterprises (MSME) who will able to access a market of over 1Billion people.

MSMEs create over 450 million jobs annually and such the sector plays a pivotal role in economic growth and Africa's transformation and industrialisation agenda. The #AfCFTA aims to ensure MSMEs more so those run by women and youth will be the key beneficiaries of preferential trade within the AfCFTA.

Through the AfCFTA guided trade initaitve MSMEs are already benefiting from reduced costs as they incur reduced duties as well as faster delivery of imported products manufactured on the continent due to the preferential trade accorded to AfCFTA signatories as opposed to those sourced from other parts of the world thus improving their competitiveness.
