Before the Coast Guard, before modern technology, there was the Life-Saving Service.

Through bravery, teamwork, and a specially made cannon, they saved hundreds of lives beginning in the last part of the 19th century.

Today, we’ll share how they lived, trained, and conducted successful rescue missions, without radar, a radio, or gas-powered engines.
